I have Photoshop and use Photoshop….when I have to. Not being a professional designer, the learning curve for that software can be frustrating. It’s not particularly intuitive for beginner or even novices to image editing.
With that in mind, I went looking for a little more accessible resources as I’ve had some needs for logo design on the quick and cheap. Canva.com has been absolutely remarkable. I highly recommend it.
In particular, the service has a free tier that allows you to use their library of photos, graphics, clip art and shapes and download your final work for free. The library and resolution limitations have you pining for the paid version, but using their templates with layers and some creativity, you can do some great work without paying a dime. Keep in mind, the below logos were created by a totally mediocre beginner, but you can see that there are lots of options for good looking logos.

All of those logos were created on canva.com, and I highly recommend them to all to try. Additionally, the company is a great story and was featured on the podcast “How I Built This” a few months ago.
